Fortum Suomenoja heat pump plant
The Suomenoja power plant’s heat pump plant recovers heat from wastewater from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The energy obtained corresponds to the annual heat consumption of approximately 15,000 detached houses. In the project, Porin Teollisuusputki was the contractor for the external plastic piping between Fortum’s heat pump plant and HSY.
Piping was installed over a total length of more than one kilometre. Installations were carried out underground, on a pipe bridge and even inside an existing pipe. Installing the pipeline inside another pipe required careful planning. The work was carried out using winches for occupational safety reasons to avoid being inside the existing pipeline.
